The wait is nearly over for the triumphant return of Coventry and Warwickshire’s largest one-day agricultural show.

A highlight on the region’s rural calendar, the Kenilworth Show is back this Saturday with an exciting line-up of attractions and activities to keep the whole family entertained.

Taking place on the Stoneleigh Park Estate for the first time in two years, visitors can expect livestock and equine competitions, sheep shearing, modern and vintage machinery, classic cars, dog shows and a lively Warwickshire Young Farmers hub.

In a show first, The Trailer Stage will showcase some of the region’s finest musicians and performers, while more than 120 trade stands will feature a wide range of arts, crafts, jewellery and homeware as well as artisan breads, pies and preserves.

There will be plenty to occupy kids in the shape of bouncy castles, traditional fair stalls and even a mini hobbyhorsing race track!

The Kenilworth Show, which regularly attracts more than 12,000 people, has been running since 1947 and is organised by the Kenilworth and District Agricultural Society (KADAS), a charity that promotes farming and offers education around agricultural issues. Show tickets, which are free for under 12s, can be bought here.

Show Director Charlie Weetman said: “After many months of planning the wait is nearly over! The stalls are booked, livestock pampered, and the showground is really coming to life.

“We’ll have so much going on for all the family to enjoy. Some of the attractions will have an agricultural focus, but there will be plenty to interest people who aren’t necessarily from a farming background.

“We’ll have a vast array of trade stands, selling everything from pet accessories, handmade furniture and agricultural machinery to authentic Indian cuisine, Caribbean rum and African kimonos.

“For the first time in the show’s long history we’ll also have a stage dedicated to live music with performances from a range of talented local musicians and dancers.

“And, to top it all off, the weather forecast looks great too! Any tickets bought before show day will be reduced by £5 per person so it’s well worth buying in advance.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the showground for what promises to be one of our best shows ever!”

Creative types can still enter a homecraft competition that will be judged on the day. Entries could be a beautiful cushion, tasty homemade jam or a favourite photo. They might be cut flowers from your garden, a sketch or painting that’s been tucked away or even a piece of artwork you’re proud of.

The competition is designed to celebrate artistic talent from across the region. Rosettes will be awarded to the winners of each category with a special prize in store for the overall winner.

The deadline for entries has been extended to this Friday. To find out more, and to enter the competition, email Cynthia Mold, the Society’s resident homecraft expert, at cynthia@kenilworthshow.co.uk.

Society Chairman Clare Price said: “The homecraft tent is always one of the most popular areas and we’re expecting the same again this year with so many entries coming through to our competition.

“The standard of entries has been incredibly high and just illustrates how creative and artistic the people of the West Midlands really are.

“We were all disappointed when last year’s event did not go ahead, but that actually gave us more time to prepare this time round.

"I’ve never known anticipation and excitement like it! The long wait will only make this year’s show extra special."
